The 6 content buckets
Every salon post fits one of these. We rotate so the feed stays balanced.
- Transformation. Before/after of one client. Same lighting, same angle. The single highest-converting bucket.
- Stylist spotlight. 30 seconds of one stylist doing what they're known for. Names matter — book by name.
- Behind the chair. Process — toner being mixed, blowout in progress. Builds trust in your craft.
- Owner voice. You, on camera, talking about something seasonal. Personality > production value.
- Offer. One specific deal with a clear timeframe ("$30 off any color through Sunday").
- Community. A repost of a regular tagging the salon, a thank-you, a local partnership.

What to shoot, fast
You do not need a photographer. Your phone, taken in natural light at the chair, beats a styled studio shoot for engagement. Three rules:
- Window light over the client's shoulder. Never overhead salon lighting.
- Same angle for before and after. Same wall, same crop. Side-by-side comparisons need consistency.
- Get a 5-second video of every transformation, not just a photo. Reels rank higher.
Captions in 20 seconds
Stop overwriting. The pattern that works: (what we did) + (1 sentence of personality) + (clear CTA).
- "Soft cinnamon balayage on Jess. She came in for a refresh and we ended up taking her warmer for the season. Book with me before Friday — 2 slots left."
- "Erin's balayage update — same warmth, less brass. We use [product] for that exact tone. DM to book."
